Mountain Explorers is developing a platform that connects small ski resorts and freeride slopes from around the world. The idea is to bring together as many freeride-friendly destinations as possible into one website.
Problem:
The project needed a clear visual style and a set of unique icons, as icons are a key element of the interface.
My role:
I was responsible for setting the visual direction of the website. I designed the homepage layout and created a custom set of icons tailored to the brand. I ensured that all design elements supported intuitive navigation and reflected the company’s vision and target audience.
Solution:
To convey the feeling of snow and mountains while keeping the atmosphere warm and joyful, I chose a soft yellowish-white background, a clear light blue for logo and icon highlights, and a bright blue for UI accents. The typography supports this mood: Hammersmith One adds a friendly, open character to headlines, while Hind Madurai ensures clean readability for body text. Together with a cohesive icon set and homepage layout, the design invites users into a positive, winter-inspired experience.
Process:
The process began with hand-drawn sketches for each icon. I then refined them into clean, pixel-perfect vector graphics. Finally, I animated the icons to enhance interaction and bring visual rhythm to the interface.
Result:
I delivered the design of the website’s main page and a full set of animated icons, which together defined the overall visual style of the platform. The design direction I established met the company’s expectations and set a strong stylistic foundation for future development.
